Rose Haven - Providing Community, Support & Love for Those Experiencing Homelessness & Poverty
Host Michelle Beck welcomes Katie O’Brien, Executive Director of Rose Haven, a day shelter and community center serving women, children and gender non-conforming folks experiencing the trauma of abuse, loss of home and other disruptive life challenges. Rose Haven works to break the cycle of homelessness by providing meals, clothing, first aid, mailing addresses, hygiene, restrooms, showers as well as educational programs and guidance through medical and social services. By meeting basic needs and building trust, they empower our guests to explore long-term change.
Katie O’Brien has served as Rose Haven’s Executive Director since 2020, after working with Rose Haven in a variety of capacities since 2009. With 30 years of non-profit experience, her proven track record of success in strategic visioning and cultivating relationships has played a pivotal role in building the infrastructure for Rose Haven to support increased demand for services, as our city struggles to address the growing homeless crisis.
Katie and her team have provided consistent and compassionate services throughout the pandemic, being a source of practical and emotional support to those most vulnerable in our community at the most challenging time for our world. Katie maintains a deep passion for the intersecting issues contributing to homelessness and poverty for women, children, and gender diverse communities.
Born and raised in Seattle, Katie became a Duck and then set her roots here in Oregon where her husband and three adult children reside.
