Youth Charity League - Raising Socially Conscious Kids
Host Michelle Beck welcomes Claudia Valderrama, Co-Founder & Jessi Podd, President, of Portland based non-profit Youth Charity League to talk about how they are raising socially conscious kids.
Youth Charity League transforms the lives of young people by instilling the importance of community service through family-friendly volunteer opportunities with local non-profit organizations.
Claudia Valderrama, Co-Founder, started her career in advertising and finance at various organizations, having worked her way up from controller to CFO positions and also helped to establish new pathways toward integrated marketing. In addition to co-founding Youth Charity League, Claudia is currently the Global CFO and Named Partner at Wieden & Kennedy. She loves to give back to her community by volunteering for her kids’ schools and at her church. She serves as a board member for a number of organizations including OMSI and Edison High School.
Jessi Podd, President, has spent her career focusing on supporting youth in need of extra support and providing mental health counseling, assistance to victims of crime and those suffering with addiction into recovery. Currently, she is providing mentoring support to high school juniors and seniors as they make decisions on what their life looks like outside of high school. Jessi and her family became YCL members in 2020. Shortly, thereafter Jessi joined the Board as the Youth Ambassador Director., where she evolved the YA program to provide more leadership opportunities for the kids as well as give them further exposure to working with nonprofits.
